Privacy Policy

Welcome to Moodarc. This Privacy Policy explains how Moodarc Team ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you use the Moodarc mobile application (the "App") and the joinmoodarc.com website (the "Website," together with the App, the "Service").

By using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

We collect information in the following categories:

A. Account Information

When you create an account, we collect information needed to authenticate you and set up your profile. Depending on how you sign in, this may include:

  • Email address
  • Display name
  • Profile photo
  • Unique user ID assigned by our authentication provider

Sign-in methods we support:

  • Google Sign-In (via Firebase Authentication)
  • Sign in with Apple (on supported devices)
  • Email magic link (passwordless sign-in via a link sent to your email)

We do not receive or store your Google or Apple account password.

B. User-Generated Content (UGC)

We collect content you create and share in the App, including:

  • Text: Chat messages, Mood descriptions, Nudges, comments, and profile bio
  • Media: Photos and short videos (up to 15 seconds) shared as "Moments"
  • Profile details you choose to provide (such as username and display name)
  • Social graph data (followers, Archs, blocks, and connection requests)

C. Approximate Location

To power regional discovery features, we derive an approximate location from your IP address when you use the App. This may include your city, region, and country code. We store a normalized region key (for example, to show you content relevant to your area). We do not collect precise GPS location from your device.

D. Push Notification Data

If you enable push notifications, we collect and store a device push token (FCM token) so we can deliver notifications about activity in the App (such as messages, nudges, and social updates). You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.

E. Device Permissions

With your explicit consent, the App may request access to:

  • Camera — to capture photos and videos for Moments
  • Photo Library — to select existing photos and videos to share
  • Microphone — to record audio when you capture video Moments
  • Notifications — to send you push alerts about App activity

You can revoke these permissions at any time through your device settings. Some features may not work without the relevant permission.

F. Waitlist and Early Access Sign-Ups

When you join the exclusive waitlist on joinmoodarc.com, we collect your email address, optional platform preference (iOS, Android, or both), and referral source (such as which page or shared link you came from). We use this information to manage invite-only early access and send you updates about your spot.

G. Usage Analytics and Diagnostics

We automatically collect technical and usage information to understand how the Service is used and to improve reliability, including:

  • App interactions and feature usage (via Firebase Analytics)
  • Crash reports and performance diagnostics (via Firebase Crashlytics)
  • Device type, operating system version, and general app version information

We do not use this data to track you across other companies' apps or websites for advertising purposes.

2. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We use the information we collect to:

  • Operate, maintain, and provide the core features of the App (Moods, Moments, Chats, Nudges, Archs, and discovery feeds)
  • Authenticate your account and keep it secure
  • Deliver push notifications you have opted into
  • Show you regionally relevant content based on approximate location
  • Store and deliver your media (photos and videos) through our cloud infrastructure
  • Monitor app stability, diagnose crashes, and improve performance
  • Understand aggregate usage patterns to improve the Service
  • Enforce our Terms of Service, including content moderation and safety
  • Respond to your support requests and legal inquiries

3. HOW WE SHARE YOUR INFORMATION

A. With Other Users (Social Features)

Moodarc is a social app. Information you choose to share may be visible to other users according to your privacy settings and connection status. This includes:

  • Your profile (username, display name, photo, bio, and current Mood)
  • Moments, Moods, and comments you post
  • Chat messages and Nudges you send to connected users
  • Your online/last-seen status (if you have enabled "Show Last Seen")

You control some visibility through in-app privacy settings (such as Mood visibility and last-seen).

B. With Service Providers

We use trusted third-party services to operate the App. These providers process data on our behalf and are bound by their own privacy policies:

  • Google Firebase Authentication — sign-in and account management
  • Cloud Firestore — database for profiles, chats, moods, and social data
  • Firebase Cloud Storage — storage for profile photos and Moment media
  • Firebase Cloud Messaging — push notification delivery
  • Firebase Analytics — usage analytics
  • Firebase Crashlytics — crash and error reporting
  • Firebase Cloud Functions — server-side processing (including location resolution and account deletion)

C. For Legal and Safety Reasons

We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or government request, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to:

  • Protect the safety of users or the public
  • Investigate fraud, abuse, or violations of our Terms
  • Enforce our rights or defend against legal claims

D. We Do Not Sell Your Personal Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes.

4. DATA RETENTION AND DELETION

A. 24-Hour Mood Expiration

Any "Mood" you set (including the visual character/emoji and describing text) is ephemeral. It is automatically removed from your public profile 24 hours after posting.

B. General Retention

Your account information, Chats, Nudges, Moments, and other content are retained as long as your account is active, unless you delete them or delete your account.

C. Account Deletion

You may delete your account at any time through Settings in the App. When you delete your account:

  • Your profile, posts, chats, and associated user-generated content will be scheduled for deletion
  • Your authentication credentials will be removed
  • Push notification tokens will be cleared

Some information may be retained for a limited period where required for legal compliance, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or backup systems before being permanently deleted. Content you shared with others may remain visible to them in cached form until refreshed.

D. Reports and Safety Records

If you have been reported for violating our Terms, we may retain related records (including report details and moderation actions) for safety and compliance purposes, even after account deletion, as permitted by law.

5. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

Moodarc is not directed at children under 13 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are under 13, you may not use the Service.

If you are between 13 and the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you may use the Service only with the permission of a parent or legal guardian.

If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, contact us at support@joinmoodarc.com.

6. CHILD SAFETY STANDARDS & CSAM POLICY

Moodarc has a strict, zero-tolerance policy against Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) and the exploitation of minors. We are committed to providing a safe environment.

Zero Tolerance: We strictly prohibit the uploading, sharing, or promotion of any content that exploits, harms, or endangers children. Any user found violating this policy will face immediate and permanent account suspension.

User Reporting: Users can report violations directly within the Moodarc app using the in-app reporting tool on any Moment, Mood, or Chat. Alternatively, reports can be sent directly to our safety team at support@joinmoodarc.com.

Authority Reporting: When CSAM or related malicious activity is detected or reported, we will immediately remove the content, preserve the necessary data, and report the incident and the offending user to the appropriate national and international authorities as required by law.

7. YOUR RIGHTS AND CHOICES

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate information (editable in-app for profile fields)
  • Delete your account and associated data (via Settings → Delete Account)
  • Withdraw consent for optional permissions (via device settings)
  • Opt out of push notifications (via device settings)
  • Object to or restrict certain processing, where applicable by law

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or similar jurisdictions, you may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

8. DATA SECURITY

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) for data sent between the App and our servers. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS

Moodarc is operated from India. Your information may be processed and stored on servers located in countries other than your own (including the United States, where Google Firebase infrastructure operates). By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of your information to these locations, which may have different data protection laws than your country.

10. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this document. For significant changes, we may also notify you through the App or by other reasonable means. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
